Payroll Supervisor


Tiffany & Co. is currently seeking a Payroll Supervisor to be based in our Parsippany NJ offices. The Payroll Supervisor supervises the Payroll Representatives and Accountants, ensuring that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives. Optimizes the contribution of the team through coaching, counseling and implements workable solutions to business issues/problems with minimum referral to management. Conducts work planning, estimation and prioritization to optimize performance of team and works with Payroll Manager to define standards and reusable approaches for Payroll and Accounting operations. The Payroll Supervisor manages effective internal/external client relationships within own area of responsibility, and builds client relationships outside of own area.


The Payroll Supervisor will interpret day-to-day business objectives and preparation/execution of operational practices/work programs and fill in for Payroll Manager as needed and prepare work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage. Ensure accounting close deadlines are met and accounts are reconciled. Oversee and assist the Sr. Payroll Accountant with the RSU, Dividends and PSU process. Supervise and assist with the Canadian payroll process. Ensure that the highest level of Customer Service is delivered to our customers (internal/external). S/he will identify process improvement initiatives and assist in the development of standards and the implementation of these improvements. This position will Participate/Lead Special Projects as they relate to Payroll and Accounting (System Updates, Audit support, Worker Compensation, Year-end reporting, etc.) The Payroll Supervisor will ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs.Provide guidance to and shares knowledge with colleagues/team members relating to own specialization and train team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies.


  • BS in Accounting/Finance
  • Previous Supervisory Skills
  • Minimum of 10 years of payroll experience (multi-state taxation and international payroll experience)
  • Experience with processing Canadian payroll
  • Previous PeopleSoft Payroll experience (a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proficient PC Skills (MicroSoft)
  • Excellent Communication/Analytical Skills
  • Strong Customer Service Skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Payroll Certification (CPP)
  • Experience with processing Equity

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
